Idle Singer

That's the title of my first and only music CD.  It came about after about ten years of studying voice with Amy Fradon, a terrific teacher and my favorite singer.  She finally said that there was nothing more she could teach me about my vocalizations—which she claimed were excellent. 😃

When she asked me if there was anything else I wanted to do musically, I told her that I'd like to record a CD of some of my favorite songs.  I also told her that I'd like her to produce it.

She agreed and that began several years of sessions at Jim Barbaro's Natural Recording Studios—a cabin in the woods off Goat Hill Road.  There was no set schedule.  We three worked around our other responsibilities to meet for an hour or two in the studio.  The whole thing took the equivalent of a year plus to complete.  I haven't tried to count the number of sessions,

For me, the experience was transformative.  These are the songs:

  1. The Cape.
  2. Gentle on my Mind
  3. They Call the Wind Mariah
  4. Dance Me to the End of Love
  5. Work Song
  6. A Pirate Looks at Forty
  7. Something Stupid
  8. Don't Think Twice
  9. Jody and the Kid
  10. On the Road Again
For those folks who have asked for copies, I offered them if the requester would donate to their favorite charity.

It's been a while since I've mused publicly. I'll probably do better in the future.

Till next time

Namaste

  1. Knowing you and knowing Amy and trusting fully in the power of music to transform your story lands perfectly. I hope all your followers have read your novels.
